I was coming in town for a long weekend to help my parents downsize while they were out of town. Yes, my parents knew about it, and I had my marching orders. Sarah was wonderful. From the first time we spoke on the phone, I was confident she had the understanding, experience and knowledge to help me get the job done. She was on time, professional and efficient. She also was mindful of keeping the costs down wherever possible and giving me an idea of what the costs would be up front. In fact, her knowledge of what donation items would be accepted (based on condition of the item) versus trashed was extremely helpful, not only from a cost perspective, but also because of the constraints we had for the weekend. I needed a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home sorted, itemized and donated to various charities. The house and garage were packed with 20 years accumulated possessions and I was completely overwhelmed. Sarah showed up on time, helped us organized, took whatever we donated and returned a list of items and recipes. Took trash out and left when the task was done. After years of ignoring the fact that my parents had hoarding issues, I finally convinced them to give Sarah with Put It In Order a try. She has been working with my mom for over two years now. Like the rest of the house, my parents’ kitchen and basement was filled with stuff – furniture, financial records, books, old toys, garden equipment, etc. She has transformed both the kitchen and the basement into a clutter-free environment. A year ago, my father passed away, Sarah became not only the person that helped my mom organize her house; she also became an unofficial personal assistant to her. She referred my mom to both a lawn man and a handyman that my mom continues to use. My mom no longer drives, but she still owns 3 cars, so Sarah keeps the cars running and filled with gas. I would recommend Sarah for anyone who has to clear up or clear out or just needs help organizing what they have. My son hired Sarah for us, he had heard me talking about organizing for years. Usually I would go into the garage stare a few minutes and decide it was too hot or too cold. The closets and cupboards were just daunting. And it was easy to just shut the door and proclaim that it was a process for another day. Sarah came 2x a week for 4 weeks and we now have clutter free spaces! The bedrooms, kitchen, laundry room and garage are done! We can now park a 3rd car in the garage! And I am using her method to maintain the spaces. I think what helped me the most was that she has contacts on her phone. Lots of contacts. She knew where to take broken or unused tech items, will list items if you would prefer selling them and has donation sites for specific groups. From Kiwanis to Assistance League to the computer store and the Center for Abused Women. You aren't just throwing things in the trash you feel good about cleaning out.

I recently had the need to organize my apartment and had Put It In Order recommended to me. I called Sarah and set up a time for a no charge consultation. We discussed what was needed to get my place in order and made arrangements to start the process. When Sarah came over we put up pictures, organized the kitchen, organized my bedroom, and went through boxes to see what should be destroyed and what should be saved. I first started working with Sarah in January of 2010. It was a slow start for me as organizing and cleaning up my house was something I didn’t want to do at that time. We worked together until September 2010 before I threw in the towel. We have kept in touch over the years. My life has been through a lot of changes, my husband passed away and my health hasn’t been the greatest. After moving into an Independent Community earlier this year I find myself still with my house of clutter.
Sarah and I work together once a week stuffing black trash bags for donation. It is great to know that she drops them off at the place of my request. Plus she also has good knowledge of the proper donation locations.
She organized a meeting with Shred It and now I have a shred bin to easily put the paperwork into. Shred It comes every 3 weeks at my request and shreds. It has worked wonders on the time we save not shredding all the paperwork that has been kept through the years.
My family does not live close by and Sarah has helped me through this change in my life. My daughter was able to meet Sarah during a visit to Reno and she is comfortable how the progress is moving forward. The plan is to sell my house once the clean-up is finished.
