Pre-Holiday Organizing Tips

Candy, Pumpkins and Skeletons in your closet.  The holiday season is upon us.  Are you ready?  Is anybody ever ready?  I can assist with that.

Before you start decorating, tackle some decluttering in the hall closet and the laundry room first.  What do those areas look like in your home?

Hall Closet

• Fold matching sheet sets and store inside one of the pillowcases
• Use clear storage bins w/lids for stacking options
• Label all sides of bins and/or baskets
• Fold each bath towel the same way and stack
• Roll hand towels and wash cloths and store in an open container, for easy accessibility
• Keep “like” items together

Laundry Room

• Adjust the shelves inside the cupboards to a height that works for your laundry products
• Use and/or recycle unused laundry products
• Use a shoe organizer on the back of the door for frequently used items
• Or hang your ironing board on the back of the door
• AGAIN, keep “like” items together

​Fall/Halloween Décor

• I prefer colored storage bins; you do not have to label them.  The color tells me what is inside when I crawl in the attic, red/green for X-mas, black/orange for Fall/Halloween, etc.
• Use all your décor pieces
• What is not used, donate or trash if it is showing its wear
• AGAIN, keep “like” items together
